How long does a PSU actually last?+
Quality PSUs from reputable brands (Seasonic, Corsair HX/RMx, be quiet! Dark Power) regularly exceed 7–10 years of real-world use. Premium units often outlast their 10-year warranties. Budget units (Bronze tier, no-name brands) typically fail sooner — 3–5 years is common. Our database is capturing real outcomes as reports accumulate.
Why does this database exist?+
Every PSU calculator — including this one — tells you "your system needs Xw" using transient math and spec sheets. But nobody tells you "this specific model typically lasts 8 years" based on real data. Backblaze publishes hard drive stats. We're doing the same for PSUs. The community asked for this data on forums for 15+ years. Now it exists.
How do I submit my PSU's data?+
Find your PSU on the PSU database, scroll to the bottom of the spec page, and fill out the 30-second form. You'll need: your PSU model (pre-selected), how many years you've owned it, and whether it's still running. That's it — no account needed.
Why do some PSUs show "—" instead of statistics?+
We require at least 30 reports before displaying any aggregate statistic. Showing a "95% survival rate" based on 4 reports would be misleading. Every stat you see here is labeled with its sample size.
